Christmas is here and what more exemplifies the joy of the Holidays than the smiling face of a child and what better way to spend a cozy silent night than to watch a movie about a group of vacationers enjoying a ski weekend who take in a group of stranded children. Touching isn’t it? I did, however, forget to mention that the kids are homicidal killers who have escaped incarceration by brutally murdering their bus driver. Also, the vacationers are a bunch of swingers and their possible crime boss friend. This little party is a recipe for wholesale slaughter and like a good batch of Chex Mix, it all comes together pretty well. Can these unsuspecting adults survive the onslaught of these pint sized psychos? Grab some fruitcake and let’s find out.

When you set down to watch an Italian take on Last House on the Left starring David Hess and directed by the man who brought us Cannibal Holocaust, you can be sure of one thing, you probably aren’t in for a very pleasant evening. This sleazy exploitation shocker follows rapist/murderer Alex and his mentally challenged friend. The duo are invited to a rich kid party in a posh neighborhood by a couple who stop by the garage they work at. Of course it isn’t long after they arrive before the straight razor comes out and the physical and psychological torture begins. As the evening wears on things get progressively worse inside this palatial home, but is there something else going on here as well.
Unlike a lot of the movies I show here, this one isn’t really a good time. It is, however, a staple of the exploitation sleaze sub-genre and like another movie that might show up here, Naked Massacre, this one sets out to make you uncomfortable and does so very well.

What? Can this be? Yes, Drive In fans, we have an actual “good movie” for you this week. Father Goddard is the headmaster of a Catholic boarding school. After he tells his students about the sanctity of confession, a boy confesses to the murder of a fellow student and to disposing of the body in the nearby woods. When Father Goddard investigates the claim, he discovers that the whole thing was a cruel prank but is unable to say anything due to the secrecy of the confessional. When more confessions to similar crimes and the disappearance of students take place, Father Goddard is torn by his sworn duty as a priest and his sense of morality and justice. Yes, this one is well written, well acted and suspenseful to the end. Enjoy it, but don’t get used to it.

I categorised this under ‘Westerns” but only because that is what it is listed as on IMDB and a few other place and I didn’t really know where else to put it. It is more a 70s exploitation flick / adventure and survival movie. The plot finds 3 men and 1 woman heading into the Sierras to look for a lost gold mine. Problems arise when one of the group, a man named Sally, turns out to be an unbalanced and dangerous psychotic. He hearses their guide and his attention to the lone female member of the group grows more disturbing and alarming with every mile the group covers. When Sally kills a Mexican bandit for pushing his horse the group is also trailed by a revenge seeking member of the group.
Like I said, this isn’t really a western. From the opening cock-fight to the bloody confrontation at the end, the movie is pure exploitations and fans of the genre should have a good time with it.
