If there is anything surer in this world than death and taxes it would most certainly be that whenever a big movie hits there will soon follow a gaggle of low-rent, quickie cash-ins. Asylum pictures is famous for these kinds of movies, but they certainly didn’t invent the idea. Remember how popular movies like Robocop and The Terminator were in the 80s? Well the folks behind these three sci-fi action yarns sure took note of it. These movies certainly aren’t as pretty as their blockbuster big brothers, but are they as entertaining? Well, I’ll let you be the judge of that, but I’d say your first instinct is probably correct.

HANDS OF STEEL

When an industrialist’s profitable, but environmentally unsafe practices are about to be exposed by a prominent scientist, the man dispatches a cyborg assassin to take care of the situation. When the killing machine starts to show human feelings he is also targeted for elimination and most hit the road, taking on arm-wrestling truckers, robotic hit-women and John Saxon along the way.

ASSASSIN

When an evil scientist bent on world domination sends a human-looking android assassin to take out several world leaders, including the President of the United States, it is up to a retired CIA agent to find a way to stop the seemingly unstoppable machine.

It seems something has gone terribly wrong when an automated law enforcement officer starts issuing the ultimate punishment for the tiniest infractions. Now it is up to its creator to stop its reign of terror
